About the Instructor, Junko Cheng

Award-winning vocalist, songwriter, and international recording artist Junko Nishiguchi Cheng has been studying voice under renowned vocal instructor to the stars, Seth Riggs (Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Madonna, Josh Grobin, Natalie Cole, Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussy Cat Dolls, etc.), for over 10 years.  She believes in his method, Speech Level Singing  (www.speechlevelsinging.com), so much that she decided to become a certified voice instructor with Seth in order to help other singers greatly improve their vocal abilities while maintaining (or recovering) vocal health.

Junko's growing list of students include Lauren Daigle; So You Think You Can Dance Season 14 winner Lex Ishimoto, a family member of pastor Rick Warren; Adriana Braganza, a cast member of Broadway revival show "The King and I"; national-level dancers from West Coast School of the Arts in Costa Mesa, CA and PAVE in Aliso Viejo, CA; and countless future stars.

Starting out as a regular soloist for NHK TV in Tokyo during college, she has since been touring internationally as a solo artist.  She was the winner of the Spotlight New Artist Competition in Nashville in 1993 (the winner in 1994 was Jars of Clay) and her radio hits in Hawaii helped garner her the Na Hoku Award (Hawaii's own version of Grammys) in 1997.  Her studio work includes projects with Maurice White (Earth, Wind, and Fire), Yumi Matsutouya (Sony Japan), Junko Yagami (Sony Japan) and projects at various studios in LA.  For over 14 years, she was a worship leader at Saddleback Church (Pastor Rick Warren).  More recently, she has been acting in Hollywood, appearing in Taylor Swift's Delicate music video (lipstick lady) as well as commercials and films.

She is ready to help you sing with more power and bigger range without the vocal strain which often accompanies belting. Any age, level, and style are welcome -- pop, gospel, R&B, classical, choral, musical theater, etc. Find out more about Junko at www.junko.com.
